Maggie Siner: The Drama of Still Life. 3.5 Day Workshop, February 5-8, 2026

$675.00

Day 1 Wednesday February 5th 6 pm
Day 2-4 Workshop February 5-8
$695

No matter the subject, drama in painting comes from the arrangement of abstract elements - the colors and shapes on the flat canvas.  Movement and tensions between shapes create a dramatic expressive painting.  Still life, with its endless choice of object juxtapositions, and the meanings carried by these objects, offers vast possibilities of creative discovery and originality.  In this three and a half day workshop painters will work directly from observation to find and create drama through light, form, and space relationships, using color, value, gesture and compositional structure.  The workshop begins with an inspirational slide lecture introducing the most important workshop concepts, clues to visual thinking (learning to see like a painter) as well as a discussion of materials.  Not to be missed!

A balance of painting time, individual attention, group critiques and demonstrations will provide an exciting setting for creative growth.
