WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
This workshop is designed for artists who would like to get started with painting egg tempera for the first time. Taught by two of the most respected artists working today, known for their figurative works in both egg tempera and oil, Candice and Julio will teach you how to mix egg tempera paint from scratch, and guide you through their method of creating egg tempera paintings on any subject from start to finish.
This workshop will cover how to prepare an ideal modern surface from aluminum composite panel, transfer or create a drawing best for egg tempera, a method for creating ink wash underpaintings, techniques for building color and light through layering, how to achieve soft transitions, dealing with edges, making corrections, expanding the value range, techniques for finishing, and how to apply a final egg varnish and silk polish. For this workshop students will be working from quality reference images they bring to class. We recommend portrait, figure, landscape, still life or animal subject matter.
