This class will focus on the process of pulling imagery from nature to emphasize the formal aspects of painting – color, composition, movement and space. Open to all oil, gouache, casein and acrylic painters who are willing to let go, experiment and take chances!
We’ll dive into art history of the development of the abstracted landscape, how to utilize plein air works effectively in the studio, possibilities through our materials/tools, and color palette strategies.
Each day will include presentations, demonstrations, followed by a series of painting exercises. Students will be encouraged to show their work for group discussions.
The first day will be plein air at a location in Nashville/Franklin areas and the remaining 2 days will be in studio.
