Sarah Kaufman’s Creative Development in Painting Class

Materials:

  • Materials:

    · 3 Canvas boards (sometimes called canvas panels) for value studies (12X16, you can buy them in 3-packs). Bring one for first class.

    · 3 large canvases (around 30X40 or 36X24). Sarah will provide the gesso and plaster for canvas preparation. You only need to bring one large canvas for the first class.

    · Oil paint – my palette is titanium white, cad yellow light, cad yellow medium, yellow ochre, cad red medium, alizarin crimson, raw umber, sap green, permanent green light, cerulean blue, french ultramarine blue, black

    · Medium: Liquin, linseed oil, Gamblin solvent free gel or other medium.

    · Gamsol only in a jar or a can. Please do not bring odorless turpenoid.

    · A selection of brushes, including some large 3 inch or more brushes as well as small detail brushes, and many sizes in between.

    · Paper towels (Viva cloth towels are the best)

    · Palette (the bigger the better, I use a wooden one) and a clip-cup for the liquin

    · Laptop or ipad for researching and using photo references

    · Spiral sketchbook for homework (size is up to you, but at least 8X10)
