Abstracting the Landscape Supply List

Drawing Materials

Pencil

Ballpoint pen

Ink brush pen (Pentel Ink Brush Pen or Sennelier Ink Brush are both great

options)

Watercolors (Any basic set will do!)

Charcoal

Drawing paper (10-20 sheets from 5x7 to 9x12 or larger) Can be from a

sketchbook or pad. I like to use big sheets of Legion Stonehenge paper and tear

them down to size.

Watercolor paper (Can be from larger sheets or a pad)

Any other favorite drawing tools or paper (Pastels, fun pens, etc. The point

is to have lots of different options that will behave differently and lead to

new surprises)

*Specific brands or types don’t matter, just bring something you’re excited to try*

Painting Materials

Paints (I’ll work in oil, but acrylic is okay too). These are the colors I typically use.

Bolded colors are required, others are optional. Feel free to bring any other

favorite colors!

Alizarin Crimson

Ultramarine Blue

medium like heavy acrylic gel)

Medium cup (I use a Yuelong Squeeze Bottle from Amazon)

Gamsol and cleaning jar (I recommend the ones with the screen insert)

Palette (I greatly prefer glass palettes, the bigger the better)

Assortment of brushes

Bring lots of brushes! Flats, rounds, etc. of all sizes! Don’t forget the big

At least one cheap 3 inch bristle brush from the hardware store.

the painting)
