I enjoy painting on acrylic or oil primed linen or cotton boards. Please bring WHITE and TONED boards/canvases to the workshop.
CANVAS SIZES:
Please bring 6 per day
9x12, 11x14, 12x16, no larger. Squares are also encouraged.
Recipes for toning:
Mix Liquitex white gesso with Pale Umber acrylic paint. Two parts gesso/one part Pale Umber.
Mix together with a small amount of water to loosen. Apply to your white canvas with a large brush. (Remember to NOT apply this atop an oil ground or painting!)
Another toning option is to purchase Senso unbleached linen boards or pads. If you’d rather tone your own to look similar to Senso, simply mix Raw Umber and Ultra Marine Blue with a little gamsol. Apply this to your boards and wipe down until the desired value is reached. On a scale from 1-10, 1 being pure white, 10 being black, I desire a value of around 3-4.
