Colors  If you already have a color and a brand you like, feel free to substitute or add to the list below. (Jim uses primarily Daniel Smith brand unless otherwise noted)

Highly Recommended Colors:

Naples Yellow (or sub. a Cad. Yellow or Daniel Smith's Gamboge Nova) *

French Ochre * (or sub. a Raw Sienna or a Yellow Ochre)

Mayan Orange *

Cad. Red Light * (or sub. Holbein's Light Red)

Burnt Sienna *

Alizarin Crimson *

Cobalt Blue *

French Ultramarine *

Imperial Purple * (or sub. a deep violet or purple)

Serpentine Green * (or sub. a warm green)

Jadeite Green * (or sub. a cool green)

Optional Colors:

Raw Umber
Van Dyke Brown
Opera Pink
Lavender (Holbein)
Manganese Blue
Neutral Tint  
Chinese White (for small accent lights)

Paper (Artist Grade W/C Paper)

Arches Bright White OR Natural 140 - lb. Rough (preferred) or Cold Pressed (acceptable)

These papers and weights are also available in Arches W/C Blocks (sizes 9x12 or 11x14 inches recommended)

Brushes  (Escoda brand are Jim's recommended  brushes, although other "artist-grade" W/C brushes are acceptable.)

(1) Escoda Ultimo Synthetic Squirrel Mop Round brushes - size 14 or size 16 

(2) Escoda Flats (synthetic) Great for Architectural works! (1/4  and 1 inch)

(1) Small, Synthetic Round 

 Other Necessities:

W/C palette

Two water containers

Mist Spray bottle (Holbein makes a very affordable one)

Paper towels

Masking tape

Gatorboard  - at least a 16"x20" piece (for taping W/C paper down)

Pencil 

White Staedtler eraser

Masking Fluid (optional) 

Plastic trash bag (for soiled paper towels)
