Level up your oil painting with this in-depth class on color, materials, and techniques.
If you struggle to mix just the right color, if you want your paint to glide onto the canvas like those artists you follow on social media, if you’ve ever wondered what the heck Neo-Megilp is, this class is for you.
Over six weeks we will dive into paint mixing, the science of color, pigment specifications, oil painting mediums, varnishes, spirits, canvas types, substrate textures, and application techniques such as grisaille, glazing, alla prima, scumbling, varnishing, and more.
This class is designed for intermediate to advanced painters, but beginners are welcome as well. The information offered will be rich, allowing for strong skill development in painters already familiar with oils. If you’re new to oils but enjoy dense material, don’t hesitate to join! You will get a lot of deep information, creating a strong foundation for your oil painting journey.
Students should bring their normal painting kit, and additional materials will be provided for experimentation. If you’re new to oils and don’t have a painting kit, email Elisabeth at MarschStudios@gmail.com for a basic supply list.
Elisabeth is a professional portrait painter experienced in the teaching and practice of drawing, painting, miniatures, experimental media, abstraction, art theory, and more. For further information on her bio and work, visit www.MarschStudios.com
