“SOJOURNERS"

The definition of sojourn:  a temporary stay.

I like to think that where I am in my personal journey as an artist today is a temporary situation.  It means that I’m not finished. I’ve the rest of my life to continue to grow, learn, and discover.  

Sojourners class allows students to work on their own projects (portraits, pets, landscape, floral, etc.) in their preferred medium and receive guidance and individual critique while enjoying the company of fellow artists.
A journey in art together!  

Since the summer of 2020, I’ve been teaching and mentoring fully online.  It’s been wonderful in many surprising ways.  I’m not anxious to stop online teaching, yet I’m yearning to get back out on a regular basis with artists again.  We’ll meet in the relaxed and welcoming setting that Warehouse521 always offers.  I’ll take a look at your work and lend my honest thoughts, ideas, and suggestions, or maybe you simply need help getting started on a project.  I’ll try my best to help you.  

You’ll receive much of the attention my private students receive, exept to share it with a small gathering of devoted artists.  I’ll bring my gear with me to demonstrate from time to time.  We may even pull in a model every so often.  All mediums are welcomed.  Our goal will be to connect as artists, and continue the creative journey that we are all on together.  Finding what we, as unique indidviduals, have to offer the world through our very own creations.  

For those of you who are representational artists, I’ll ask you to consider sketching from life, daily.  Every single day for at least 15 minutes.  If you’re like me, you may find it a challenge to stop at minute 15!  Sketch anything at all, as long as it’s from life.  Nothing needed except paper and pencil.  If you commit to this, I predict you will become well versed in placing three dimentional form onto a two dimentional surface quickly.  It’s a learned skill that many artists don’t take the time to practice.  

Finally, I may arrive masked depending on variants/rsv/flu that’s going around, fair warning.
