Materials include armature, 6 pounds of JMac clay and tools. Students may bring their own tools in preferred.
In this Intensive 4-day figure modeling workshop with Alicia N. Ponzio, students will create an 18” figure model in plasticine clay on a wire armature. We'll begin on Day 1 with an exercise in which students will complete several small, quick sketches of various poses. At the end of the day, the group will discuss the sketches and select one pose for the larger 18" project. For the remaining 3 days, the focus will be on developing and applying a figure modeling method. Alicia will introduce her 3 stages of Figure Modeling and demonstrate the steps while working alongside the students. Teaching methods also include brief lectures and individual feedback. Students study from a live model in a standing pose so that we may explore concepts in balance and weighting. The class will be appropriate for all levels.
(Casting will not be included in the curriculum. Students will take home to final clay on the armature and are encouraged to cast it independently.)
