Maggie Siner: The Back View: Using Our Anatomy. 3 Day Figure Workshop. January 17-19, 2021

$650.00

Sunday-Tuesday
9:30 am-4:30 pm
$595 plus $55 model fee

A drawing into painting workshop, working from both the skeleton and the model, this class is appropriate for students with drawing and figurative experience.

The back view of the model is far from boring! Rather than being a large expanse of uneventful surface, the back is a subtle landscape of beautiful, evocative and expressive forms. But only if you understand the anatomy underneath the skin can you create those structural and gestural nuances.

The posture of the back reveals unique individual gesture and human expression through physical feeling. We will study how the ribcage, spine and scapula, as well as the connecting muscular system, create the gesture and planar movement of the back.
