Let's start fresh in 2022 and resharpen our skills by focusing on fundamentals! During January and February, learn to draw and/or paint features step by step. We'll use photographic reference (initially provided by Jim) to paint an eye, nose, lips and hands just as Sargent did - general to specific. You'll learn to paint the structural planes first with proper value and color relationships before adding the final accents and adjusting edges that create specific features.

If you choose to draw, bring extra paper so that you can do multiple studies per class. If you choose to paint, you may want to consider working in black and white initially, but a full palette is also welcome.

Again, the real focus is on basics; learning to draw and paint form and features by working from general to specific using photographic reference and live models.
