The light spectrum that we are all trying to capture on canvas is often times well beyond the limitations of our paint. Titanium white doesn’t come close in value to say a highlight on a glass. The color intensities found in nature can go way beyond our pigments. So how do you capture nature truthfully within this inherent handicap? Jeffrey T. Larson has spent over thirty-five years painting full-the professionally with this question at the forefront of his mind. This workshop breaks down very simply the reality of the problem and has you work through the solution and is the exact method he teaches his full-time students at his private Atelier, the Great Lakes Academy of Fine Art to see color. This isn’t a class teaching tricks on how to get a certain effect. It is a systematic methodology that trains the eye to see and render the relative values and intensities within the limitations of your paint. This is how he keys and paints all of his work, both the bold outdoor figure work along with the very refined indoor still life pieces. Limited student number allows Jeffrey to give generous instruction to each student throughout the workshop.
