Max Ginsburg is a New York artist whose work is renowned for its realism in both form and content.His paintings express the great themes of humanity, war and peace and social justice as well as life’s many joys.

DEMO: Max Ginsburg will paint a portrait (head study) from life in the alla prima tradition of many of the Old Masters.  He will discuss observation of form and color and his techniques while he is painting. You will see the development of the portrait on his canvas as well as the mixing of colors on his palette.  (2 hours)

LECTURE: Ginsburg will speak about the development of his recent multi-figure painting, “UnemployedOn Line” using slides of compositional sketches, painting studies and block in stages. He will speakabout concept, composition and capturing the reality of people by painting them from life in the traditionof the Old Masters but expressing contemporary ideas.  Max will also show slide reproductions of several other multi-figure paintings and discuss the similarities and differences in their concepts, procedures and development.  (1 hour)
