Just before Valentines Day!

2017 brings a new lesson plan to my workshop, "Capture the Essence of Love, Through Paint”-   Over the past, I've watched my students come to the studio with their cherished image of a loved one in hand, and a canvas or two.  They come with the mindset of creating a beautiful painting to have and to hold from this day forward!  This may sound surprising, but I'm hoping to help you "de-value" your canvases this year!  Students will create two large canvases on day one.  In the morning, they'll fill up one canvas with small figures in all gesture positions in three shades of grey.  Dark, mid, and light.  In the afternoon, another board of figures in two colors, dark and light.  We'll have timed 15 minute sessions for each figure.  I'm hoping that this exciting exercise will become addictive, and many boards will be created in students' home studios in the days and weeks following.  It's a fun way to witness your own growth in depicting figures, facial landscapes, domestic animals, or florals for that matter!

Day two, we'll discuss lessons learned from day one, and attack our canvases with a fresh mindset.  Students will be armed with new ways of "seeing" the figure.  I'll of course do all I can to help guide my students through their paintings, while reminding them to hang loose!  Have fun, and create a wonderful work of art-

See you in the Studio!
