Have you ever noticed that great painters know how to make a painting look dynamic and strong from start to finish?

This portrait painting workshop will focus on establishing a powerful start and sustaining that strength throughout the entire process, thus ensuring an "artful finish." Additionally, it will provide the more advanced painter the opportunity to further hone his or her drawing skills, color perception and edge control during a two day, extended pose.

Canvas or Panel size should not exceed 28x22 inches and be no smaller than 16x12 inches.

Canvas or panel may be toned OR untoned (white).

If you decide to tone your canvas, use a thinned down, mid value, cool-gray mixture of Ultramarine Blue, Transparent Oxide Red (or Burnt Sienna) and Titanium White. This mixture should be at a value 6 (on the 1-10 value scale) or  a pale flesh value. The gray should lean slightly towards a blue gray rather than a brown gray. Most importantly, if you decide to tone your canvas, it must be completely dry prior to the workshop.
